The salesmen were pleasant and easy to talk to, no pressure. I felt comfortable in their homey sales room with kid friendly play area. It felt like a warm family business which was important to me vs. huge, 'big business' metal and glass buildings.
I needed a 'winter' vehicle and found a Subaru on line with Boyer Motor Co.
I took my truck to get an alternator replaced to Boyer Motor. I was driving from GA. To ND to help my dad do some work, when my electrical system failed. My truck broke down across the street from this company so they came over and jumped me off. They got my truck in the shop that same day. The problem came when they charged me for the Alternator. They charged me $422.00 for a new alternator that they only paid $213.00 for that was delivered to them by O'Reilly's Auto part Store that was also across the street. I have replaced the alternator before on this vehicle and don't remember paying more than 135 $. So I asked them why it cost so much and they said they don't mark up from what I would have to pay if I went to O'Reilly's and got it myself. So I went to O'Reilly's and asked and they said they would have only charged me $249.00 if I would have come in there myself. Boyers motor Co. paid $213.00 then tacked on another $209.00 as a mark up cost. I called back at least twice to bring this to the owners attention and they promised to call me back but never did. I understand that everyone has to make money and because of that things are marked up. I own a restaurant and of course markup is how we make money. But I wouldn't be in business if I marked my cost up like these people do. That is a markup of basically 100% on a 200$ item that they expended no energy to get because O'Reilly's delivered free of charge In addition to this they also charged the normal labor and tax and a few other small charges. I tried to call the owner and ask if this is his correct way of doing it or not, and if so I won't argue beyond that, however if it is I will never go back. Since they lied to me, didn't return my phone call and had excessive markup cost I only give them a 1 star. I would still like a call back Brian. Thanks
